Straight outta Webster Wisconsin comes a one hundred and six-mile fat bike race. Our amigos Lilah and Alan from the Fat Fish 40 have cooked up an event that should be on every fat-bike rider’s radar. The race takes place on October 30th up in the Northwest of the big Whiskey through the Namekagon River Barrens. The area is known for its ‘Sugar Sand’. A few of our crew have raced the Fat Fish 40. It’s a great grassroots bike party. I’d say, if you’re looking to get away from it all, on terrain that’s perfect for fat-bikes…look no further.
Below is the news release from the event.
Hello Fat-Bike Friends!
Berg Lake Gravel Productions is bringing you our second annual 106-mile course — The Fenton Lake is one of the original course plans Alan started designing several years ago before our first official Fat Fish 40 race launched in 2018. A long-distance, fat-bike-specific course taking riders over 106 miles of natural terrain including the Northeast portion of the Namekagon River Barrens. A truly epic tour of this area on the path less pedaled. This is a remarkable area that not many cyclists have been able to navigate on a conventional dirt-centric bike. The deep sugar sand, also known as glacial sand, is best traveled with the floatation of the fat-bike tire. Following alongside you during the race are lakes, streams, nature preserves, Northwoods wildlife, gorgeous woods & one of the last remaining historical cabin homes allowed near the Namekagon River.
This is a fully supported race with 3 stoke-points curated by Bone Saw Cycling Collective where all riders will be checked in and re-supply with hydration & food. The Fenton is a rain-or-shine event and all registration sales are final.
Registration is open now! Please visit our page to learn more about The Fenton.
Please reach out with any questions, Alan & I will do our best to assist you.
See you in the Sugar Sand!
Alan, Lilah & the Crew!
