Reader’s Rides (Singlespeed Edition) – Angry Andy’s Ritchey P-29

Editor’s Note: I’ve been friends with Angry Andy for thirty-something years. We met when we worked at cross-town bike shops in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Back in the day, shop rats from both establishments would get together and ride to the local C(r)ook County Forest Preserves. (Busse Woods) We’re talking about the dawn of mountain bikes in the upper middle west. I remember Andy riding a Cannondale that had a twenty-six-inch wheel up front and a twenty-four-inch wheel in the rear (before he broke the frame). Andy is a legacy Bike Black Ribbon Society member and today we’re going to take a long look at his Ritchey P29 Singlespeed! #bikeporn #singlespeedcenterfold #steelisreal

Andy shared that he spent over a year finding and collecting all the parts for his build. Folks are waiting almost that long for an off-the-shelf MTB these days. If you’ve built something in the Klunker, Singlespeed, Fat, or Adventure bike genres that you’d like to share, we might just be your huckleberry. Drop me a note with a few glamour shots of your whip and maybe one day, your ridable work of art will follow in Angry Andy’s footsteps. My email is still gomez@fat-bike.com and hey, let’s put reader’s ride(s) in the subject line, shall we?

That there is a sweet rig! I like the little touches such as the disk bolts and the red cog, a lot of thought and a lot of patience!

    Cheers!
