The Bison Bicycle Company follows in the footsteps of bike brands born from bike shops. The shop behind Bison is Geared Up Cyclery in Pinedale Wyoming. You may remember them from hosting Fat Bike Worlds in 2020 and 2021.
The Black Dog isn’t named after the Led Zepplin song. It’s named after the biggest American Bison ever recorded. The Black Dog’s carbon frame keeps things nice and light and customers can choose custom builds that range from $3,000 to $7,000 USD.
The Black Dog is an imported open-mold carbon frame. Geared Up Cyclery then takes that frame and assembles customers’ bikes in one of Wyoming’s most wild places. These shop brands tend to be regional and now the Cowboy State has joined Alaska, Wisconsin, and Ontario with their own Wyoming flavor.
