Reader’s Ride(s) Adam Blake’s Salsa Beargrease aka Buzz Lightyear

The Details

Bicycle Base: Salsa Beargrease 2019 GX style with Kingpin Deluxe fork

Hbar: Whisky 31.8 750mm width

Stem: Paul Boxcar 90mm up from the stock 70 length, and in SUPER RAD PURPLE

Grips: Wolftooth Fatpaw grips

Brakes: Sram Guide RS with Centerline-X 180/160 rotors

Shifter: Sram GX 12sp

Seatpost: SDG Tellis when running a dropper, and a Thomson Elite when doing more bikepacking

Saddle: Ergon SM MTB pro

Crank/BB: Sram Stylo Carbon with 30t ring, 170mm length, and Sram Dub 121 bottom bracket

Pedals: Shimano XT

Rear Derailleur: Sram X01 Eagle (50t capacity)

Cassette: Sram XG-1295 10-50 range

Chain: Sram XO1 Eagle 12 speed chain

Tires: 45Nrth 27.5×4” Van Helga is most often ridden, though I run studded Dillingers if the situation calls for it.

Wheels: Cantu Rumble carbon rims laced to Cantu spokes with Sapim CX-ray spokes is my favorite wheelset to ride on this bike, but the Sun Ringle Mulefut wheels do see action if I want to switch tires or ride a specifically rocky or nasty spot.

Bags: Cedaero Frame bag custom made, Oveja Negra Wack Pack bolt-on top tube bag, Cedaero Agler/Drummond saddlebags.

This bike sees fully loaded bikepacking, gravel, Mtb, and whatever else I can throw at it.  It changes fluidly as new things come in and out, and as parts where and preferences are established.  I elongated the stem just a bit to slow the front end down in techy sections and let me control the bike a bit better.

This is my third Beargrease, and a platform that I continually come back to.  The more things change the more they stay the same.
